What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. Science by Ears has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics or advertising software, and no tracking of any kind.
Purchases
Archives are bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The store handles payment and keeps the record of what you own; we never see your payment details. Purchases can be restored on any device signed in to the same store account.
Archive downloads
When you buy an archive, the app sends the store's signed purchase receipt and the archive's name to our download server, which checks the receipt and returns a temporary download link. The receipt is checked and discarded; it is not stored. The server keeps a short operational log (outcome, duration, archive name) that contains no identifiers. Our hosting provider, Microsoft Azure, records request metadata such as a masked network address for up to 30 days for security and reliability. We do not use it to identify anyone.
Catalogue check
The app periodically fetches a small public file describing the available archives, so new releases can appear without an app update. This is an ordinary web request that carries no identifiers.
Notifications
Release alerts are optional and are created on your device. No notification tokens are sent anywhere.
On your phone
Your progress, settings and downloaded archives stay on the phone. Deleting the app deletes them; your purchases remain restorable through the store.
Children
Science by Ears is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes and contact
